Challenge Jam and 5th Monday potlucks, (if the month contains a 5th Monday, we have a jam at our usual time with a potluck supper following.  Everyone brings a dish;  music, food and fun, what could be better!

We are River City Dulcimers and Friends, a north Florida based string band comprised of mountain dulcimers, hammered dulcimers, autoharp,  guitars, banjos, harmonicas, tin whistle,  gutbucket and maracas;  vocals are also an integral part of our mix.  We are a teaching and performing group that welcomes new members (acoustic instruments only) of all levels.  We play a wide variety of music… mountain, old tyme, folk, celtic, gospel, country ect.  We have the distinction of being the only band of its kind in Jacksonville.

We focus on many areas of music:

JAMMING:  learning from each other, and having fun is the idea.

TEACHING:  Although we learn much from our regular meetings, some feel they need more introduction to basics; for a small fee Kay Evans will extend private lessons to anyone who desires one on one learning of the fundamentals. Kay Evans, our in-house teacher, is available through appointment and and can be contacted at bobkayjax@gmail.com

PERFORMING:  We travel all around Jacksonville and beyond to perform…clubs, church groups, community centers, hospitals, senior and assisted living centers, etc.  All members are invited to perform whether beginning, intermediate or advanced.  Our performances are the culmination of our music and they give us the opportunity to see the appreciation of our music on the faces of the audience, lunch or dinner is usually served to us before or after the performance.
